What makes an electric bike road legal in Australia? ⌄
A road-legal e-bike (a pedal-assisted EPAC) has a motor up to 250W continuous, pedal-assistance that cuts out at 25 km/h, any throttle limited to 6 km/h, and EN 15194 certification. Every bike in this collection — the DiroDi Rover Road-Legal range — meets this standard and carries its EN 15194 certification on the frame.
Are these legal in my state? ⌄
It depends on the model. The 250W DiroDi Rover models are EN 15194 certified and road-legal in every Australian state and territory. The 500W models are road-legal in NSW only (under current rules through to 1 March 2029) and are not road-legal in other states. Local rules can vary, so check your state’s current rules — our Brisbane team can help.
Do I need a licence, registration or insurance? ⌄
No. A road-legal e-bike that meets the 250W / 25 km/h EPAC standard doesn’t require registration, a licence or CTP insurance when ridden in line with your state’s road rules. You must wear a helmet and follow the standard road rules wherever you ride.
How fast can a road-legal e-bike go in Australia? ⌄
Road-legal e-bikes in Australia have motor assistance cut out at 25 km/h. You can pedal faster than this — the motor just won’t assist beyond that speed.
Can I legally carry a passenger? ⌄
Yes, on a bike built and designed to carry one. The Rover Road-Legal models have a passenger-rated rear rack and a 150 kg total payload, and Australian rules permit two-up riding on e-bikes manufactured to carry a second person — including in Queensland.
Are they compliant with the new Queensland e-mobility laws? ⌄
Yes — the DiroDi Rover Road-Legal range is built to comply with the Queensland eMobility laws that took effect on 1 July 2026, as well as the current national e-bike standard.
Where can I ride them? ⌄
Anywhere bicycles are allowed — roads, bike lanes and shared paths — following your local road rules. On a 250W road-legal e-bike you ride as a bicycle, not a registered vehicle.
What is the difference between the road-legal and off-road DiroDi Rover models? ⌄
All DiroDi Rover 250W motor versions — including the Rover Gen 6, Rover Gen 6 Plus, and Rover Pro — are available in road-legal configuration. The 1000W off-road models are also available and completely legal to purchase — they are simply designed for off-road and private property use where higher power output is permitted. The 250W mode is road-legal nationwide; the 500W mode is road-legal in NSW only.
How is it delivered and what warranty applies? ⌄
ReadyRide delivers it fully assembled and safety-tested: $69 within 150km of Brisbane, $399 across QLD, NSW and ACT, $499 in VIC and SA. DiroDi e-bikes carry a 2-year warranty on frame, motor, battery and electronics with Brisbane-based support, and Australian Consumer Law guarantees also apply.

Every bike in this collection carries EN 15194 EPAC certification — the standard that makes an electric bike road-legal in Australia. 250W continuous motor output, 25 km/h pedal-assist limit, no registration required in any Australian state.

Two motor options are available across the DiroDi Rover range:

  • 250W — road-legal in all Australian states. Fully compliant with QLD eMobility laws from 1 July 2026.
  • 500W — road-legal in NSW only. EPAC certified, 25 km/h cut-off. Not road-legal in QLD or other states. Road-legal in NSW through to 1 March 2029, when NSW aligns to the national 250W EN 15194 standard.
